Song of the Day: February 24, 2016 - "Not My Girl" by Tokyo Police Club

February 24, 2016 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

April 8th is the release date that was just announced for Tokyo Police Club's new album, titled Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness.

The first single, "Not My Girl", was just put out last week as well, and is some of the new music we've heard from TPC since their 2014 album Forcefield.

Have a listen to the infinitely rad song below:

Song of the Day: February 23, 2016 - "Slacker" by Library Voices

February 23, 2016 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

Lovish came out a few months ago, but Library Voices are still cranking out singles from it. They just released the video for "Slacker", a bit of a grungy, psych-rock song with a lo-fi video to match.

They're also heading out on tour soon, though no word of a Vancouver date... but hopefully that will change.

Song Of The Day: February 22, 2016 - "Modern Mind" by Bry Webb

February 22, 2016 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

Two of Canada's most interesting songwriters are joining forces for a split 7" release.

One one side, you have Chad VanGaalen and "Primative Brain", a song you could only find on a small run cassettes.

On the other, it's Bry Webb of Constantines, with a "Modern Mind", written in response to CVG's song.

A limited run of physical copies of the 7” are available to pre-order today via Wyatt Records website. And while this is the first release from the new label, keep an eye out, because they are promising a lot more in the future.

Song of the Day: February 19, 2016 - "Tom Tom" by Holy Fuck

February 19, 2016 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

Holy fuck, it's brand new Holy Fuck! They've announced their first album since '010's Latin which will be due out on May 27th and called Congrats.

The driving, electronic "Tom Tom" is the lead single and has everything you've come to expect from the band, and also features some uncharacteristic vocals from the normally-instrumental band.

Song of the Day: February 18, 2016 - "RSVP" by Jody Glenham and The Dreamers

February 18, 2016 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

If this song "RSVP" is any indication, then The Dreamers is the perfect name for Jody Glenham's backing band.

Last year the Vancouver singer/songwriter released a couple songs with her newly christened band, one of the songs being the melancholic and moody "RSVP". Now they've released a stellar new video to go with it, which you can check out below.

Song of the Day: February 17, 2016 - "Mothers of the Sun" by Black Mountain

February 17, 2016 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

IT'S NEW BLACK MOUNTAIN! Do I need to say any more?

Probably not, but I will anyway. "Mothers of the Sun" is the first song off their fourth album, appropriately titled IV, appropriately out on the first day of the fourth month, April on Jagjaguwar.

The new single is everything you'd want from a Black Mountain song; the over-eight-minute epic rollercoaster ride of massive riffs and creepy synths, epic Amber Webber's haunting vocals contrasting with Steve McBean's growl, all comes together for a breathtaking single.

Oh, and the video... the video is a trip in itself!

Song of the Day: February 16, 2016 - "Beyond The West" by Maverick Cinema

February 16, 2016 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

Maverick Cinema is a band out of Nanaimo, BC who have been hard at work on their soon to be released EP Sanctuary (March 15) - produced by none other than Mike Edel and mixed by Colin Stewart.

We're excited to premier the first single "Beyond The West" here on 3am Revelations - a song with the sounds you hear from the folk rock coming out of Vancouver Island, and if you close your eyes you can see the crowd dancing to it on the side of Browns Mountain at the Tall Tree Music festival.

Take a listen and keep an eye out for the full release in March.
