The 2nd annual Unbuckled event took place in Stanley Park last weekend with live entertainment from The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, and a reunited Willhorse.

Both bands had special guests come out for songs, including members of each others bands. Check out the photos above.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival @ Jericho Beach -- 07/15-17/2016

This past weekend was the 39th annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival, with dozens of bands from all around the world converging on Jericho Beach Park.
I wasn't able to catch as much of the festival as past years, but what I did see was good.

SHOREFEST continued on the banks of English Bay with a slew of awesome artists from Vancouver, and culiminating with Randy Bachman on the main stage. It also meant two nights in a row of Dustin Bentall & Kendel Carson, which is always delightful. And Twin Bandit had their homecoming/album release show at the beautiful Ironworks Studios.

For the last week and a half, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival has descended upon the city with hundreds of bands across dozens of venues around the town, both free and ticketed shows. And you can't accuse the jazz fest of having too narrow a focus; the long running festival brings more than just the titular genre to Vancouver. Last year two of the Jazz Fest shows I caught were Royal Canoe and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, and last night they presented two of the finest blues/roots rock bands the city has to offer.
