Who? Sigur Rós
Where? The Orpheum
When? Monday, May 9
Why? One of my all time favourite bands, who I haven’t seen in nearly a decade, bringing their incredibly rich & lush sounds to the Orpheum? Yes please. A million times yes please.

Christine's Pick

Who? Dan Mangan
Where? Vogue Theatre
When? Wednesday, May 11 & Thursday, May 12
Why? Oh, you know, we’ve only been waiting for this specific Mangan show for TWO YEARS now! Personally, I’m also excited to see Cardboard Dan in action in the lobby (I took the photo), but also to sing along to all my favourites. You don’t really need a why, it’s DAN MANGAN!

BONUS Pick

Who? !!! with Blonde Diamond
Where? Fox Cabaret
When? Thursday, May 12
Why? Get ready to dance as !!! (chk chk chk) returns to Vancouver, and as an added bonus, locals Blonde Diamond are opening for them! Tough to beat that pairing.

It’s that time of year again. The time where I assume you care as little about year-end best-of lists as I do. I don’t know about you, but I usually glance at them with a vague sense of disagreement before maybe complaining... then completely forgetting about them. Besides, who actually enjoys ranking art? So as is now tradition, that's where The 3am Awards come in. In lieu of a “best of” list, I give you the award show you may not have even known you were waiting for:
