Song of the Day: November 17, 2016 - "Walk Out On The Water" by Royal Canoe

Royal Canoe has just released the a brand new video for "Walk Out On The Water" which, near as I can tell, is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the lead character wants to be less of a Mad Max and more a Broadway Dancer.

It's off their latest album Something Got Lost Between Here And The Orbit, but if you're in Winnipeg, you can catch them performing new music written for a contemporary production of Shakespeare’s Richard II titled “Am I Not King?”. They'll be accompanying the play from December 14-17 at the West End Cultural Centre. 

Song of the Day: August 25, 2016 - "Love You Like That" by Royal Canoe

The new album, Something Got Lost Between Here And The Orbit, is out in a few weeks (Sept 16) but Royal Canoe has just enough time to sneak out one more song in advance. "Love You Like That" seems a bit more experimental and outer-spacey than the previous two singles, but keeps coming back to a funky, catchy chorus.

They'll also be hitting the road soon and I would highly recommend being at the Imperial on September 30th. 

Song of the Day: June 24, 2016 - "Somersault" by Royal Canoe

They're back! It's been a couple years since we heard new music from Royal Canoe, but the Winnipeg band is set to release a new album called Something Got Lost Between Here and the Orbit, on September 16 via Nevado Music.  

And to give us a taste, they've released a video for the first single "Somersault". The song is a catchy and danceable indie-pop tune, and the video is really something else. Directed by Nathan Boey and choreographed by Kaja Irwin, it features some fantastic dancing from the band -- or more accurately, their "puppeteers".
