Chad VanGaalen is back with a song that will be looping through your ears all day. "Old Heads" is the first single off his upcoming album Light Information, which is due out September 8th on Flemish Eye.
The song is a "sci-fi space anthem" about the never ending cycle of new technology replacing the old, through VanGaalen's unique filter. Check it out below, and definitely make sure to catch him on tour, including a stop here in Vancouver on November 9th at the Biltmore!
If you haven't heard Harrow Fair's cover of the Memphis Minnie song "When The Levee Breaks" (which they recorded live at Revolution Recording in Toronto), let it haunt you this Sunday morning!
The band, made up of Miranda Mulholland (formerly Great Lake Swimmers) & Andrew Penner (Sunparlour Players), still haven't made it out to Vancouver for a show (that I've seen), but I'll definitely be there when they do!
Big congrats to Vancouver's Woolworm for signing to Mint Records!
Their new album, Deserve To Die, comes out on August 25th on their new label, and you can hear the first single "Catbird" below.
We're just over a month away from the recently announced album by Arcade Fire (Everything Now - out July 28th), and we have a second single from the band.
Where the first song ("Everything Now") definitely had a disco-ABBA vibe to it, "Creature Comfort" leans more towards the 80's with it's heavy synth sound, but features lines describing social pressures men and women face and the pain that comes with it. (Check out the lyrics to get more in depth!)
Oh, and if you were unaware, the band will be performing in Vancouver on October 14th at the Pacific Coliseum.

Yukon-based singer Declan O'Donovan will be in Vancouver tomorrow night, performing at the Wise Hall, so we thought we'd give you a taste.
Here is his single and video for "Down To The Bottom" from his album Broken Sky, which was released back on the 2nd of June.

Cold Specks has released a new song from her forthcoming album (no title yet, and it's due later this year), called "Wild Card".
Despite what I hear in my head (THIS) every time I hear read the words Wild Card, the song is slow and beautiful in true Cold Specks style, and "was shaped by selflessness and the strength of refugee women."
She will be performing in Toronto tomorrow as part of NXNE, before heading to Vancouver for the Vancouver Folk Music Festival weekend.

Sarah Jickling (and Her Good Bad Luck) is finally set to release her solo debut, after teasers over the last few years.
The album, When I Get Better, will be released on July 14th, and will document her mental health issues, exploring relationships and friendships alongside the struggles she is vocal about in both her music and writing.
Check out the live version of "This Time" below, and keep an eye out for the debut!
