Song of the Day: February 03, 2017 - "Big Love" by Gay Nineties

February 03, 2017 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

T-minus one week until the new Gay Nineties album Decadent Days is released, and we have another single from it.

"Big Love" came out as a single last week, and a music video followed a few days after, showing some behind the scenes videos from the band and live performances from the past year.

According to the press release I have there's going to be a show in Vancouver on Valentine's Day, so we'll keep you posted.

Song of the Day: January 31, 2017 - "Pure Comedy" by Father John Misty

January 31, 2017 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

I honestly don't know where to start today. I listened to Father John Misty's new song "Pure Comedy" the day it was released, and absolutely loved it.
Then was sent the 25 minute short film by the same name and just spent the entire time staring into the computer.

There are so many snippets and bits and pieces in there from the upcoming album that just heighten my expectations on what it could be. We'll find out on April 7th when Pure Comedy is released. (Hopefully we get a few more songs before then!)

January 30, 2017 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

The Matinee have released another new single off of their upcoming album Dancing On Your Grave, which comes out on February 17!

"Blood Alley" is super catchy and I found myself singing along, as I've seen the boys perform it live over the last year or so.

Have a listen below and keep an eye out for the new album in February!

Song of the Day: January 29, 2017 - "Chains" by Rose Cousins

January 29, 2017 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

First we received "Freedom" from Rose Cousins, and now we have a new single (and video) called "Chains". If the two singles are any indication of the new album (Natural Conclusion on Feb 3rd), holy moley am I ever excited.

"Chains" is verging on country, which is definitely visualized in the video below, and seems like a new direction, at least for this album. Happy Sunday everyone, have a listen below.

Song of the Day: January 27, 2017 - "Swimming in Strange Waters" by The Wooden Sky

January 27, 2017 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

New music from The Wooden Sky!

"Swimming In Stranger Waters" is the title track off the new album (out on April 7th), is a rocking, yet danceable tune; then you learn about the subject matter. Lead singer Gavin Gardiner weaves in lyrics, being the driving drums and guitars, about the effects of his grandfather's sexual abuse of his mother on his family.

The whole upcoming album seems to be a powerful message, set to include a song inspired by refugee families and the Keystone pipeline. Needless to say, I cannot wait to hear more.
