Song of the Day: April 27, 2016 - "Daylight" by Adam Baldwin
Not only did a brand new song from Adam Baldwin land in my inbox this week, but the announcement of his new album did too.
The first single is called "Daylight", and the album is titled No Telling When (Precisely Nineteen Eighty-Five), and is set to come out on June 24th.
According to the press release, the album was produced by Liam O’Neil (The Stills, Metric), and features some big names in Canadian music like: Josh Trager (Sam Roberts Band), Brian Murphy (Alvvays) and Leah Fay (July Talk)!
Check out the new single below and keep your fingers crossed that it means a tour soon too!
Song of the Day: April 26, 2016 - "Dark Dance" by Little Scream
I've been hearing a lot of great things about Montreal's Little Scream aka Laurel Sprengelmeyer, and her new album Cult Following will be out in just over a week on May 6th.
The latest single "Dark Dance" has a big 80's pop sound, and between that, and the last release ("Love As A Weapon") I found myself saying "She's got a Prince-vibe going on". Which is suppose we could use right about now.
Check the song out below:
Song of the Day: April 25, 2016 - "All Woman" by No Sinner
Last week I got a Facebook event invite that said "No Sinner" and "Album Release Show" and I instantly got excited.
I've been waiting for new music from No Sinner for a while now, as the talented Colleen Rennison has one of the best voices around.
The show will be on May 20th, the same date as the release of the album Old Habits Die Hard, and will take place at the Cobalt with Shelter, and Old Soul Rebel. Check out the single "All Woman" below!
Song of the Day: April 24, 2016 - "112" by You Say Party
You Say Party is releasing videos for every one of the songs off of their new, self-titled, album!
So far we have videos for "Friend", "Underside" and today's Song Of The Day, "112".
You can see all 3 on our Music Video Release post, and the rest of the upcoming videos every Friday on our page under "LATEST" or follow along with the releases in the schedule above.
Song of the Day: April 23, 2016 - "No Salesman" by Jordan Klassen
We got a new video from Vancouver's Jordan Klassen this week from his latest album Javelin, which is out now. And coincidentally this is just before the man himself performs here in Vancouver on Wedneday (May 27) at the Imperial with Megan Bonnell.
The song/video for "No Salesman" is below, featuring a whole bunch of very cold looking bodies of water, and lots of slow motion walking. You can purchase the whole album by clicking here.
Song of the Day: April 22, 2016 - "Throw My Love Away" by Leisure Club
Today's the day! The day that Leisure Club asks Why do I "Throw My Love Away"?
Ever since I heard about their formation, and saw them perform live at the Media Club in March I've been waiting for a recording from Vancouver's Leisure Club and their first single is out today.
Coincidentally, I ALSO just spotted that they'll be performing as part of the Converse Rubber Tracks event on May 6th - for free! All you have to do is RSVP (make sure it's for the Vancouver event) by clicking here. Can't make it? Then keep your eyes peeled for another chance to see them in late May too.
But for now, listen to this one on repeat:
Song of the Day: April 21, 2016 - "The Floor" by Lovecoast
Lovecoast wants to dance with somebody. If their new video for "The Floor" is any indication, that is.
The bouncy, soulful pop song was produced by The Zolas' Tom Dobrzanski at his Monarch Studios, and if you don't do a shoulder shimmy in your chair, at the very least, that I don't know what to say.
If you're on the island, you can catch Lovecoast at the Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival on June 25th, and I have little doubt they'll be a summer festival staple in no time.
