*GIVEAWAY!* - Win Passes to The Yale Saloon Private Launch Party!

January 19, 2016 by Christine McAvoy in party, GIVEAWAY

The Yale Saloon on Granville St recently re-opened it's doors after a Southern makeover. It has a new, bbq-centric menu, live entertainment, and even a mechanical bull. We're pretty excited to have another venue in Vancouver again, and have already seen some awesome things popping up, like their songwriter nights on Mondays, hosted by one of our favourites: Lydia Hol.

On January 27th, they are hosting a private media and industry event, and we have, FIVE DOUBLE PASSES to giveaway to some of you lucky readers...no bull.

You can enter any of the following ways:

- SHARE this post on Facebook and follow both 3am Revelations and The Yale Saloon.

- RETWEET this tweet on Twitter and follow both 3am Revelations and The Yale Saloon.

OR

- REGRAM this photo on Instagram and follow both 3am Revelations and The Yale Saloon

We will contact the winners on Friday January 22nd and let them know they won.

Then & Now IV: October 28th at Wise Hall.

October 16, 2015 by Kirk Hamilton in news, party

Well this is exciting: 3am Revelations is presenting our very first show!

Then & Now is a fundraiser for Megaphone Magazine where a collection of Vancouver musicians gather to play a couple acoustic songs; a "then" song from their past, and a brand spanking new "now" song. In past years people have performed songs written in high school, and songs that have changed the very course of their career (it was after performing at the second Then & Now that Savannah Wellman got the spark to change from the folky Redbird to the "sex-rock" Savvie).

For three years, the show was put together by Devon Lougheed (beekeeper, Altered by Mom, like 8 other bands) but he bailed off to Toronto, so along with Leigh Eldridge, Christine and I have picked up the torch. And this year is going to be so much fun. Aside from a diverse lineup, we will have door prizes & a photobooth, and with a Billboard 100 theme, we're encouraging people to dress inspired by the song that was #1 on the day they were born.

So without further ado, I bring you the 2015 Then & Now lineup!

The Matinée
JP Maurice
Sarah Jickling
Little India
Lovecoast
T. Nile
Jasper Sloan Yip
Kaylee Johnston
The Washboard Union

It all happens October 28 at the Wise Hall. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased through Eventbright, or at the door, with all proceeds going towards Megaphone. And here is the link to the Facebook event page - post your #1 hit song from your birthday (click here to figure that out) and what you're going to wear!

See you there!

May 23, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in news, music news, party

The Polaris Music Prize, which is heading into it's 10th year, is about to reveal it's 2015 long list on June 16th. Before that all goes down (in Halifax) they're doing a series of panels with jury members right across the country, starting right here in Vancouver.

It just so happens I (Christine) will be on the panel, along with Gregory Adams (Georgia Straight), Trevor Risk (Ion Magazine) and Andrea Warner (CBC Music, Exclaim!), and Steve Jordan (founder and Executive Director of the Polaris Music Prize) will be the moderator.

The event is running in conjunction with Music BC's "Schmusic" party, with the panel happening first, and then networking, music, prizes and more.
