Back on August 10th, The Matinee had their album release show (finally) in Vancouver at the Fox Cabaret. I hauled it over from softball in time to catch openers The Wild Romantics, and then it was party time with the band both celebrating the release and their 10th anniversary.

Weekly Photo Roundup - July 26, 2017
On July 17th I took some time to check out a few of the shows at the annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival including out-of-towners Jim Bryson, and Bahamas, as well as locals The Belle Game. The weather was perfect and the sun set on the main stage as Bahamas closed out the night.
Last Friday, Vancouver's Leisure Club took to the stage at the Cobalt for a night of music (I missed the openers, because, softball). The room was packed, sweaty, and ready for a dance party. If you missed them, they're back on the Cobalt stage on August 27th, opening up for Dent May.

Weekly Photo Roundup for the week preceding July 12, 2017
The annual Khatsahlano Festival happened again this passed weekend with performances along West 4th Ave. I managed to catch a couple during the day including Johnny Payne, Louise Burns, and The Zolas.
And last night we bid adieu again to Skye Wallace (who is off to Ontario for another stint) with a show at a packed Healtley on Hastings Street. She was joined by Jenny Banai (who opened) and an array of familiar Vancouver musicians.

I (Christine) have just recently returned from a trip to Ontario, where I got to check out a few awesome shows in Toronto while I roamed about the city.
The first show was the eastern performance by The Smugglers, with guests The New Enchanters, NEEDLES//PINS, and Duotang at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern.
The following weekend, I was invited to attend the Taylor Knox performance at the Drake Underground. It's always excellent to see a band you've never heard of before and enjoy it immensely. Check him out HERE.
And finally, from small club to the BIG BIG stage, I went to the Budweiser Stage (formerly Molson Amphitheatre) for the Arkells show, with guests July Talk (as well as Said The Whale, whom I missed photographing because of traffic, but got to catch 2/3 of their set!). The show was epic, and as you can see from the photos above, the crowd was packed in. Both bands are always a pleasure to photograph, and debating which to post is difficult.
Next trip to Ontario is in September, and I should be around for the Polaris Music Prize gala.
Thanks Toronto!
