Song of the Day: October 8, 2018 - "The Deep" by Phildel

October 08, 2018 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

I have been waiting years for new music from the London singer Phildel, and last week we not only got “The Deep”, but a gorgeous music video to go along with it, was directed and animated by PIxar animator Youri Dekker.

The darkly haunting song is the first single from her new album, but we’ll have to wait a few more months for that, until February of next year. But until then put “The Deep” on repeat.

Song of the Day: October 5, 2018 - "Modern Love" by For Esmé

October 05, 2018 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

I needed this greatly this week.

For Esme released a video for their song “Modern Love” from their album Righteous Woman (which I’m still obsessed with) and it couldn’t have come at a more urgent time.

Beautiful women singing affirmations to themselves in the mirror? Yes please.

Now all we need is a Vancouver tour date…please?

Song of the Day: October 2, 2018 - "Get Up" by Mother Mother

October 02, 2018 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

Mother Mother is set to release a new album on November 2nd called Dance and Cry, and their latest single from the record, “Get Up”, is definitely a fit to the former part of the record name.

It’s an ear-worm for sure, and has some major George Michael vibes to it, and makes me VERY excited to hear more new music from them.

Song of the Day: October 1, 2018 - "Drive On" by Matt Mays

October 01, 2018 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

I’m still crying on the inside that I missed Matt Mays at Skookum while I was in Ontario, so when this acoustic version of “Drive On” landed in my inbox this rainy weekend, I was very happy.

Going to repeat this line to myself over the next…6(?!) months: “There would be no good sunsets, if it wasn’t for the rain…”

Enjoy it below, and be sure to get his new album Twice Upon A Hell Of A Time on October 19th!
