Corb Lund just announced two shows for January here in Vancouver at the Commodore (29 & 30), on the heels of his newly released album Things That Can't Be Undone.
I've given the album a listen and really enjoyed it, particularly today's SOTD, "Washed-Up Rock Star Factory Blues" - just the title made me smile.
The album is classic Corb, with a few more twists, definitely give this one a go.
Like many songs on Braids' third album Deep In The Iris, "Taste" is a hauntingly powerful song, especially lyrically. And now it has an equally powerful video to go along with it.
The band teamed up once again with Kevan Funk (who has done videos for bands like The Zolas, Mounties, and Wake Owl, as well as Braids last single, “Miniskirt”) for a stark video that intercuts between Raphaelle Standell singing, four dancers, and portraits of people baring all in their homes.
And when I say "baring all" I mean everything. Full frontal everyone. So needless to say, this video is quite unsafe for viewing areas where people frown upon nudity.
JUNO award winners The Bros. Landreth have started a new projected called Undercover Bros, where they will be releasing covers of "song they wish they wrote", via Exclaim and Spotify.
The first song released is a cover of "Let 'Em In" by Paul McCartney & Wings, and new songs will come out each week over the next five weeks. Future covers will include songs by Steely Dan, Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, and Ry Cooder.
The band is also heading out on tour this fall, including a stop in Vancouver on the 22nd of October at the Biltmore.
Whoa whoa whoa, Christine. You forgot to mention the best part of this! If you head over to their website, you can vote for who you want them to cover in this series. And the choices range from bands like Rage Against The Machine and Foo Fighters, to Drake and The Weeknd, and even Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, or Backstreet Boys!! I want to vote for "all of the above"...

Yesterday Rococode released their new EP Panic Attack, including today's Song Of The Day - the title track, remixed by Humans.
Their song "Banks" was released late last year, so this new EP has been a long time coming and highly anticipated. Also on the album is their cover of INXS' song "Never Tear Us Apart", which made it hard for me to choose which song to put up today!

The good news is, Bloc Party has returned from hiatus.
The bad news is, they have returned without bassist Gordon Moakes and drummer Matt Tong.
The good news is, they are teasing their fifth album, with new members Justin Harris (bass, glockenspiel) and Louise Bartle (drums), with a new song called "The Love Within".
The bad news is, their yet-to-be titled album doesn't come out until early 2016.
A couple years ago, during a Peak Performance Project showcase, I was introduced to a random musician. I only talked to her for a few minutes, but something about her made me remember to look her up when I got home. And I am sure glad I did.
That musician was Chersea, and the first video I found was a song called "Classy" filmed live at the Alibi Room by our pals at Green Couch. It showcased both her looping talents and her amazing voice, and I was immediately awed.
Two years of hard work later, you can see Chersea on stage at Fortune tonight for her very own Peak Performance Project showcase, alongside Mike Edel and Little India.

I never would have thought in a million years I'd be putting a One Direction song up as our Song Of The Day, but that time has come.
Can you blame me when it involves the Arkells though, (remember this?), alongside Walk Off The Earth?
Honestly I've never heard the original, and I think I'm going to keep it that way. This one-shot, 10-camera video is pretty cool, and I won't spoil one of the best parts at the end, you'll just have to watch and see.

Young Rival just released another single titled "That's Chemistry", off of their upcoming album Interior Light. The band has produced another earmworm that will have you swaying in your seat (and hopefully at a venue near you soon - they play the Imperial on November 21st).
The album comes out on the 16th of October, and will be the band's first since 2012. So far the wait has been worth it between this single and, the title track off the album, it's shaping up to be a doozy. Take a listen below.
