Song Of The Day: August 28, 2015 - "Bubble Bath" BESTiE

August 28, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

I've been waiting for this one! I knew BESTiE had been recording for a while now, and we finally have the new single.

"Bubble Bath" made me immediately want to head to the beach and listen to it on repeat in the sunshine, which I want to do with most BESTiE songs. It also made me very jealous as my apartment only has a shower, and I'd LOVE to be able to have a bubble bath (maybe with some wine as the song suggests).
And other good news, the band performs in Vancouver tomorrow (Aug 29th) at the Astoria - more info here.

And now, forget your worries in the bubble bath:

3am Playlist #10: Endless Summer

August 27, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in 3am Playlist

Vancouverites, whatever you do, DON'T look at the weather forecast for the next week. It's going to be summer forever...right?

Well, my plan is to listen to this playlist (click image above, or here, to hear it) in the sunshine on the beach this afternoon and pretend like there are still months of sunshine ahead of us. And then Saturday I'm heading to the BESTiE show at the Astoria to imagine some more.

Put on your summer dress and enjoy some outside time today!

Song Of The Day: August 27, 2015 - "Close Up" Peaches

August 27, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

I'm already so in love with Peaches' new album Rub (which comes out on September 25), and I can't wait for the rest of the world to hear it. It's classic, unapologetic Peaches through and through.

You might have seen the, kinda NSFW (when is she ever?) video for "Light In Places", but Peaches has now released a video for her next single "Close Up" and it features Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth!

Song Of The Day: August 26, 2015 - "Mechanical Heart" Robot Apocalypse

August 26, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

When an album lands in your inbox that is A) free to download, and B) features "members of Hot Hot Heat, Limblifter, 54-40, The Mounties, Fur Trade, The Gay Nineties + more", it's hard not to get excited.

Robot Apocalypse's first single off the self-titled EP is "Mechanical Heart" and features Elsa Jayne on vocals, Parker Bossley on Guitars and Ian Somers on Guitars and Synth, as well as Matt Kras on synth, Jeff McKenna on Drums and Rob McKenna on Bass.

That's a pretty great all star lineup. Check out the song below, and download the entire Robot Apocalypse Collective EP HERE.

So many fall albums are set to release soon, including the full-length release from Toronto's Young Empires, titled The Gates.

The band recently released the another track from the album (which will be out September 4th) called "Uncover Your Eyes" (listen below).

If you're at Rifflandia, you can see the band perform on the Saturday, or if you're hanging around Vancouver that weekend, they'll be at Fortune Sound Club on the 17th!

Song Of The Day: August 24, 2015 - "The Shade" Metric

August 24, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

I cannot help but imagine a video game when I listen to Metric's song "The Shade", can you?

The band just released a new video for the single, which is from their upcoming album Pagans In Vegas, set to be released on September 18th! If you haven't heard it yet, give it a listen below.

Song Of The Day: August 23, 2015 - "Love Songs For Robots" Patrick Watson

August 23, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

A new video for "Love Songs For Robots", the title track off Patrick Watson's latest album (by the name name) was released recently.

The video was directed by Academy Award-nominated Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, and they said it was their: "attempt to create the sort of film Martians might make for humans, if those Martians had only observed us from afar."

If you watch/listen below, I'm sure you'll agree they did just that.

Patrick Watson returns to Vancouver on October 5th at the Commodore.

Song Of The Day: August 22, 2015 - "A Love That Sticks" Rah Rah

August 22, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

More new music from Regina band Rah Rah, and if this, and the last song released are any indication of the entire album, it's going to be an amazing one.

They just announced a tour with Vancouver band Dear Rouge, with a performance at the Commodore on November 20th. Check out the single "A Love That Sticks" below:
