Song Of The Day: August 23, 2015 - "Love Songs For Robots" Patrick Watson

August 23, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

A new video for "Love Songs For Robots", the title track off Patrick Watson's latest album (by the name name) was released recently.

The video was directed by Academy Award-nominated Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, and they said it was their: "attempt to create the sort of film Martians might make for humans, if those Martians had only observed us from afar."

If you watch/listen below, I'm sure you'll agree they did just that.

Patrick Watson returns to Vancouver on October 5th at the Commodore.

Song Of The Day: August 22, 2015 - "A Love That Sticks" Rah Rah

August 22, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

More new music from Regina band Rah Rah, and if this, and the last song released are any indication of the entire album, it's going to be an amazing one.

They just announced a tour with Vancouver band Dear Rouge, with a performance at the Commodore on November 20th. Check out the single "A Love That Sticks" below:

Song Of The Day: August 21, 2015 - "Confidence" by P'ARIS

August 21, 2015 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

One of the very first Song of the Days was a track by the mysterious new band P'ARIS. Now they're back with a second track, produced by STINT, a synth-poppy tune called "Confidence" with a chorus that was immediately get stuck in your head.

They are, however, continuing building a mystery. The single's art features a blanked out & obscured woman's face (who may or may not be the singer in the song?) and the ghostly new promo picture makes it hard to ID the duo themselves. But if my suspicions are correct, it's one hell of a pairing.

This week's playlist celebrates the bands that will grace the stages over the PNE's 2015 run, and hopefully you get your fill of music, fried food, and rides! CLICK HERE (or the image above) to hear the playlist!

Song Of The Day: August 20, 2015 - "Stockholm" In-Flight Safety

August 20, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

Last month I was reminiscing about how much I enjoyed the In-Flight Safety song "Destroy" and they just released another single titled "Stockholm" from their album Conversationalist last week.

Apparently they are busy working on new material that will be released this fall as a singles package with "some B-Sides and tracks they’ve recorded since the release of Conversationalist".

Have a listen to "Stockholm" below, and keep an eye out for the music video which is set to drop soon.

Song Of The Day: August 17, 2015 - "Red Lights" Shane Koyczan & The Short Story Long

August 17, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

Shane Koyczan just announced a new album with The Short Story Long entitled Debris that will be out on September 23, 2015!

The first track, "Red Lights", off of the album was released recently, and additionally, Shane wrote a poem to describe the album:

If I ever filmed a film
inspired by an album I recorded
this would be the one

this would be the one
I'd have pitched to Kubrick
under the challenge of
make one of these tracks
a short film...

... I love this album.

Hear the track below, and check out the tour dates on his website.
