[CLICK HERE TO HEAR THE PLAYLIST]

This list might get you pumped up for this weekend in beautiful Pemberton, BC or it might fill you with FOMO/ROMO while you hang out in Vancouver (that is, unless you're at Folk Fest!).

What I can guarantee is that it's full of some really great CanCon that will be gracing the stages of the Pemberton Music Festival, and a majority of them will get you dancing.

Keep an eye out on both MY instagram (@christine__mcavoy) and the @3amRevelations insta for photos and videos all weekend long!

Song Of The Day: July 16, 2015 - "Meaning In Life" Rich Aucoin

July 16, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

By the time this is published, I should be on my way up to the Pemberton Music Festival, and mentally crossing all of my fingers and toes that my picks for the Polaris Music Prize will have made it through to the Short List.
The announcement will be at 11am EST/8am PST, and streamed live for those of us that can't be in Toronto.

Since I'll be driving at this point, I figured I'd choose a song from my top pick for best album this year, and my favourite one to drive to: "Meaning In Life" from Rich Aucoin's album Ephemeral.

In fact, I'm likely going to listen to the whole album during the drive, so you might as well do that too...check out the video below that Rich put together of his album synced up to The Little Prince animation. It's worth the 30mins of your time today, you're not getting work done anyways, are you?

Song Of The Day: July 15, 2015 - "Girl In A Sling" Destroyer

July 15, 2015 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

While "Dream Lover", the first single off Destroyer's upcoming album Poison Season, was more of an upbeat rocker, "Girl in a Sling" delivers the polar opposite. The gorgeous piano & strings showcase the laid back, chilled out side of Destroyer.

Poison Season comes out August 28 and you can catch Destroyer on tour in Vancouver October 17, and elsewhere on other days.

Kalle Mattson has released a lyric video for his song "A Long Time Ago" full of letter balloons in a dark room.

His latest EP Avalanche, will be released on August 21, with six tracks including this one. Listen to the song below, or check out the video below that!.

Song Of The Day: July 13, 2015 - "The One That Got Away (Came Back Today)" Daniel Romano

July 13, 2015 by Christine McAvoy in Song Of The Day

Daniel Romano's upcoming album If I've Only One Time Askin' will be released on July 31st, so I thought we'd share the first single from it. "The One That Got Away" is a sad, slow song that you want to put on on a rainy day or when you're suffering from heartache.

Hopefully that is not the case for any of you today, but you can enjoy the song nonetheless.

When there is a show that features Skye Wallace, Miss Quincy, AND Chersea (Weds the 15th at the Biltmore), there is only one thing to do: an all female superstar playlist.

I asked each of the ladies to pick some of their favourite Canadian female singers to contribute to the playlist and they delivered some gems. We have so many different genres covered, and really unique voices from all over Canada!
Click the image above to hear the Yas Kween! playlist, and be sure to grab your tickets to the show (they're only $10!).

Song Of The Day: July 09, 2015 - "Joe With The Jam" Frog Eyes

July 09, 2015 by Kirk Hamilton in Song Of The Day

Ten songs, all written on an acoustic guitar that Carey Mercer inherited from his father, who passed away a couple years ago. That's how the new Frog Eyes album Pickpocket's Locket started.
It's out on Paper Bag August 28th, but you can hear the first single here, "Joe With The Jam".

He'll also be touring this fall with his former bandmate and pal Dan Bejar, opening a few dates for Destroyer (who, coincidentally, has a new album out on the same day).

Oh, and the lush strings on the song? They were arranged by another former bandmate and pal Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Moonface) and played by the award winning Jesse Zubot.
