Why? Dan Bejar is such an eclectic performer, and I can't wait to see him & the band bring their latest album, the gorgeous Poison Season to life at the Commodore.

Why? Derek Kehler (known by his musical alias Steel Audrey) passed away before being able to release his album 'From Which I Came'. His friends and musical colleagues have banded together to release the record in his honour. These include members of: The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer, The Lion The Bear The Fox, Just a Season, Adrian Glynn, Nat Jay, Savvie, The Reckoners, Christie Rose, Johnny 99, Kathleen Nisbet, Matthew Mei, Matt Ellis, and John Pippus

Why? I know MusicBC says they don't play favourites and/or "stack" the lineups for the PPP showcase, but it can't be a coincidence that these three heavy hitters are playing the last Peak Performance Project showcase EVER.

Why? For one thing, Deep In The Iris has become one of my favourite albums of the year thus far. For another thing, I have somehow never seen Braids live before. Really eager to change that.

Why? JP Maurice is holding a charity show with Vancouver bands covering other Vancouver bands. Performers include Head Of the Herd, The Matinee, Bestie, Savvie, Jasper Sloan Yip, The Wild Romantics, Goodwood Atoms, Mindil Beach covering songs by Mother Mother, Yukon Blonde, Gay Nineties, Said The Whale, Black Mountain, Bend Sinister and more. It's like the original version of One Night Stand! Plus, how awesome is that poster (says the girl who took the photo).
