Why? Get you most comfortable shoes on, because you'll be stomping and/or dancing all night as one of the most fun live bands in BC says Goodbye July.

Where? English Bay/Sunset Beach
When? Saturday July 25 & Wednesday July 29
Why? A free outdoor music festival followed by big booms of light at one of the most stunning beaches in the world. I'm not trying to oversell this, but there's nothing better. Some old-school throwback music including Randy Bachman, Platinum Blonde and Chilliwack headline but the locals are sure to steal the show. Bend Sinister, Dustin Bentall & Kendel Carson, Sadie Campbell, Tonye Aganaba, Ben Rogers, Sky Wallace, Dawn Pemberton, just to name a few.

Who? "The Folk Road Show" ft. Dominique Fricot, Benjamin James Caldwell, Olaf Caarls, and Pieter Van Vliet
Where? The Wise Hall
When? Saturday, July 25
Why? Travelling troubadours from Canada, NZ/Aus, NL, and NL/US come together for a travelling road show that rolls into Vancouver for a night. Some familiar faces, and some new ones, should make for an interesting evening of music.

When? July 17-19, 2015
Why? Hawksley Workman, Said the Whale, Basia Bulat, The Strumbellas, Matt & Jill Barber, Jasper Sloan Yip... and that's just off the top of my head. Over 60 acts from at least 15 countries are coming to Jericho Beach Park for the weekend. And make sure you're there early enough for all the workshops, because that's where the real magic happens.

Who? Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! 10th Anniversary Tour
Where? The Electric Owl
When? Saturday, July 18, doors 8pm show 9:30
Why? An American indie staple of the past decade, CYHSY deserve a hell of a tour for their anniversary. 

 

Christine's Pick

Who? David Vertesi, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Twin Bandit
Where? Sitka In-Store and/or The Juniper Room
When? July 22nd and/or 23rd
Why? Two shows over two nights means no excuses to miss this group of artists. They'll be performing acoustically at both venues, so expect a chill evening from the Vancouver & Calgary bands.

Why? I would see a show with any one of these three in a heartbeat. Add them all together? That's gonna be a great night. Plus, that might be one of my favourite show posters of the year.

Why? Because it's everything you've ever wanted and all of your dreams will come true.

Who? Pemberton Music Festival
Where? Pemberton, BC
When? July 15-19!
Why? One of the best new festivals in BC is back with a huge line-up. From local Vancouver bands (Gay Nineties, Lovecoast etc.), to huge acts (The Black Keys, Missy Elliott (!) + more), as well as comedy. There's so much to take in over 4 days!
